Over the years, Judy has made many wedding dresses and has always loved working with lace, adoring its delicate feel and intricate patterns. When she bought her Bernina 200 from Robyn Miller, her local dealer, a whole new world opened up for Judy.
This glorious circular lace tablecloth is made up of hundreds of stand-alone lace motifs taken from 2D Lace Swan and Specialty Lace by Sue Box. Each motif was embroidered over two layers
of Dissolve Magic using Robison-Anton rayon Ivory thread in the needle and bobbin. It took Judy over 150 hours of embroidery to complete the motifs for this tablecloth. The motifs were then roughly cut around and stitched together using a narrow zigzag in such a way that the cloth had a beautiful stepped star-pointed edge. Leaving the stabiliser behind the embroidery made it easier for Judy to piece the motifs after which the Dissolve Magic was easily washed out of the
completed cloth leaving it soft to touch and draping beautifully.
Judy entered this lace tablecloth in the Launceston Show and won first place in the Lace Making section – and it is no wonder! Congratulations Judy, this cloth is a real masterpiece and a true work of art – thank you for sharing your talent with CE readers.
