Lizzy lives in the area of southern Victoria that was ravaged by fire in February this year and although she was evacuated at the height of the fire storm, she and her family and property are safe. Many of the ‘sewing family’ in Victoria were not as fortunate as Lizzy and I know CE readers would wish to be remembered to them along with Lizzy and her family and the many affected by this tragedy.
As if rising from the ashes of ‘black Saturday’, this glorious quilt is a tribute to Lizzy and is the result of the Bernina Challenge. Kerrie Hay (the National Sewing Promoter for Bernina Australia) asked the Australian ‘Friends of Bernina’ to create something using thread and fabric in the colours of red, black, white and silver to celebrate the launch of the Bernina 830 series of machines. Dreams is Lizzy’s stunning quilt and is an accolade to her and Bernina. Lizzy’s quilt along with the rest of the challenge pieces can be seen around Australia at up-coming shows, so make sure you visit the Bernina stand and see the stunning display.
