10 Cut the burgundy fabric to backing size and attach it to the tablecloth with right sides of fabric together sewing around three sides. Turn the tablecloth to the right side making sure the corners are pushed out, and press turning the 1/4in seam allowance under on the last side, press then pin the opening closed.

11 Topstitch around the outside edge of the tablecloth using matching burgundy

thread in the needle and bobbin, close to the edge of the fabric, catching the opening closed.

NAPKINS

12 Matching napkins can be made using the same techniques as used in the tablecloth using:

− 111/2in squares of beige drill with an embroidered butterfly in one corner

− 2 /2in burgundy fabric borders with 1

mitred corners

− 151/2in squares of green fabric for backing.

13 Napkin rings can be made using a 1in wide finished size overlapping strip of fabric (held in place with Velcro) with a freestanding butterfly stitched in the centre of the 1in fabric strip.
