ADVERTORIAL
Hatched in Africa is situated in Middelburg, MP, South Africa, but thanks to the world wide web,
they are everywhere at all times – just go online! “The internet has become a whole new and
fascinating world for us down here in sunny South Africa. It is a wonderful way to share with the
rest of the world,” says Mari, Hatched in Africa’s coordinator.

The girls at Hatched in Africa delight in being able to share sample designs and freebies from most of their design collections with embroiderers from around the world. And just to be sure their designs will satisfy you, they are all sewn and tested in the different formats first.

Mother and daughters team, Santi Brouwer, Liese Brouwer and Cara Nuss are the digitisers for Hatched. Santi produces most of the designs and launched her first collection, Violets, in 2000, which is still selling strongly to this day.

Santi’s love for creating beautiful objects started early in her life. As a young woman she won prizes for flower arrangements. She calls on this experience to inspire the way she sees flowers and it is that interpretation which has made her a well-known digitiser around the world.

Her digitised designs exhibit an unsurpassed balance, as seen in the designs for the now ever-so-famous Apricot Blush Quilt that was released in 2002 and her Floral Delight designs in particular. But don’t think that because Santi produces such divine designs that it is an easy or quick task. Her passion and drive to create intricate designs can sometimes take her up to two months to complete a collection of 16 designs. The stitch directions she uses create a three-

dimensional effect, and she creates many of the stitches herself as they do not exist in available software.

Santi teaches regularly and extensively throughout America, including at the Martha Pullen Summer School where her classes are very highly rated and normally fully booked way ahead of time.

Take a look at their website to find their complete range of designs and gorgeous projects with instructions on how to use them. There are over 300 collections to choose from, including Heirloom, Holiday, Quilt in the Hoop and beautiful Florals.

All of their products can be purchased online, and to make it easy for you, at the bottom of the Collection page there is a button that you can click for the format for your machine which will then take you to the online Secure Vendor.

Santi and Liese plan a lot of new designs for the coming months as well as ideas for projects which will be announced on their website. With the projects on offer there will be a special price break on the designs used as well as free instructions for all.
