− 3in strips joined together to measure 120in for pillow sham frill
− four small petals each from the floral print and the spotted fabric (for the pillow sham)
− 43/4in strips joined together to measure 320in for cot cover frill
− 33/4in strips joined together to measure 120in for pillow sham frill.
3 Use a hot steam iron to fuse the Quilt Magic to the back of the lime green gingham for the cot cover, pillow sham and the white polar fleece. Also fuse the Web Magic to the back of the batting on the polar fleece, the olive green 3/8in wide ribbon and the dusky mauve coordinating fabrics to be used for appliqué.
The cot cover:
− up from the bottom cut edge 71/2in, 9in, 14in, 27in and 331/2in and mark these points. Use the quilting ruler to mark horizontal lines that are parallel to (the marked horizontal divide line) and pass through these points to help position the two small flowers, the three bunnies and the five large flowers
− two vertical lines that are 3in apart on each side of and are parallel to the marked vertical divide line and intersect all the marked horizontal lines.
4 Use the tracing paper and lead pencil to trace the two petal patterns and the bunny pattern from the pattern sheet and then use the paper scissors to cut them out.
5 Use the fabric marking pen and bunny pattern to trace four bunnies on the white Polar fleece.
6 Use the small sharp scissors to cut out the petals and then pin them together in groups of four.
12 Remove the protective coating from the back of the Web Magic fused to the back of the 3/8in wide olive green satin ribbon. Position this ribbon over the marked vertical lines for the stems of the flowers and as the Web Magic is pressure sensitive, it will stay in position on the fabric without ironing. Use the photo as a guide to position these ribbon strips centred over the marked vertical lines and extend from the marked horizontal lines in the following positions:
− 7in to the 9in for the two bottom flowers
− 14in to the 27in for the three medium
height flowers
− 14in to the 331/2in for the two tall flowers
7 Use the fabric-marking pen and quilting ruler to mark on the cot cover and pillow sham: − vertical and horizontal lines that intersect in the centre − diagonal lines in one direction only that are 2in apart.
13 Use the open-toe foot, Pistachio thread in the Microtex- 80, Perfect Olive thread in the bobbin and narrow pin stitch to attach the ribbon down each side to the cot cover.
QUILTING
8 Use basting spray or pins to attach the plain olive green backing fabric to the back of the lime green gingham cot cover and pillow sham (backed with Quilt Magic).
9 Use Perfect Olive thread in the bobbin and Celery thread in the Microtex 80 needle and the open-toed foot and a straight stitch to quilt over the marked diagonal lines.
14 Use the photo as a guide and the marked vertical and horizontal lines to position the flower petals centred over the intersecting lines on the cot cover. Remove the protective cover from the back of the Web Magic on the flower petals to be used on the cot cover. Each of the five large and two small flowers are made up of four overlapping petals.
15 Refer to step No 14 to appliqué the petals using Dark Mauve thread.
10 Keeping the marked divide lines centred, cut the cot cover to 271/2in x 471/2in and the pillow sham to 161/2in x 113/4in (piecing size or your required size).
Use the large petal pattern to trace:
− four large and eight small petals from the striped fabric (for the cot cover)
− eight large petals each from the floral print and the spotted fabric (for the cot cover)
APPLIQUÉ 11 Use the photo on page 27 as a guide and the quilting ruler and fabric-marking pen to mark on:
16 Remove the protective backing from the Web Magic at the back of the three, white polar fleece bunnies and position them so they are centred over the 14in marked horizontal lines where it intersects the outside and centre marked vertical lines. Appliqué around the outside edge of the bunnies using white thread and the narrow pin stitch. Use a straight stitch to
